As a group, we mapped the first and last frames of each person's animation, selecting an artifact that represented us individually. Each of us then animated a frame using a morphing technique. We brought together various mediums—watercolor, digital, charcoal, and colored pencil—using Dragonframe to create a cohesive whole. I challenged myself by working with watercolor. With a single line of ink, I mapped the graceful roll of a cat.
During a timed exercise, I traced the turning motion of a chess piece, experimenting with charcoal on paper.
During a quick exercise, I animated a bubbling cauldron using colored pencils on a paper plate, which I then spun on a record player. By using an iPhone, setting the camera to 24 frames per second, and lowering the brightness, I was able to capture the 'animation' effect created as the drawing blurred together while spinning on the record player!
